News straight out of our Executive Board, if you’re not already watching it online, is that the go ahead has been given for a 210 Welsh medium primary in Borras.

The approval follows a public statutory consultation which attracted 16 responses.

The new school will begin as a “seeder” school in 2019 at the former Hafod y Wern infant site with entry to the Borras based school in 2021 provided the works at Borras Park Community Primary are complete.

The admission numbers will be 15 places per year group whilst located at the temporary site in Hafod y Wern and increased to 30 places when the school is relocated to its permanent site.

Not only will this mean an increase in the number of Welsh medium school places available but it will also be an opportunity to recruit more teaching and support staff that will be needed at the new school.
