A warm welcome was given to our next Chief Executive Ian Bancroft when he dropped into this month’s Executive Board meeting.

Ian, who takes up his post at the end of August, listened to proceedings and met with lead Councillors at the Guildhall.

As someone who lives in Wrexham, he’s always taken a keen interest in what goes on at the Council. But – as you’d expect – that interest has reached a whole new level, as he’ll be playing a key role in moving forward plans for our economy, services and communities.

Ian previously worked for us 14 years ago, before taking up leadership roles at public organisations in Manchester, Merseyside and Flintshire.

And he’s looking forward to his return, saying: “I love Wrexham and can’t wait to put my heart and soul into this job. I’ve been busy getting to know Senior Officers and Councillors, and will be looking to hit the ground running when I start in August. These are challenging times across the UK, but Wrexham is a brilliant place with bags of potential.

“I’m confident that with strong leadership and by working together, we can grow our economy, provide effective services and strengthen our communities.”
