The first ever HMP Berwyn Foodbank Collection has taken place and has been donated by the Shaun Stocker Veteran’s Community to Foodbank staff. The collection was organised by the Veteran Peer Mentor and involved the veterans community at HMP Berwyn who donated items from their personal allowances.
“Didn’t have much to give”
When asked about the collection, the community representative said that although they were isolated from the local community and didn’t have much to give, they still wanted to feel part of the wider community through various fundraising activities and giving something back to local residents.

The items were handed over by Ian Langton Custodial manager of the Veterans Community to Sally Ellinson from Wrexham Foodbank and accepted on behalf of the local Community by Cllr David Griffiths, The Armed Forces Champion for Wrexham Council.
Sally was extremely grateful for the donation and said that it meant all the more as the guys had donated from their own supplies.
Cllr Griffiths, thanked those involved personally and assured them that on behalf of Wrexham Town, their efforts were much appreciated.
