HWB Cymraeg will return to this year’s FOCUS Wales, bringing more Welsh language events and artists to the line-up of the Wrexham-based international music festival.

Now in its third year, HWB Cymraeg will return to its teepee spot on Queen Square from Thursday, May 16 to Saturday, May 18.

The bill for this year’s HWB Cymraeg features live performers from the world of Welsh popular music, along with DJs and choirs.

Live music will be performed at the HWB from 7pm each evening, with the line-up featuring acts such as Zabrinski, I Fight Lions, Colorama, Cynefin and Wrexham-based singer Elan Catrin Parry.

During the day, the HWB will host a variety of Welsh language events, including choral performances, Parti Magi Ann, film screenings and Welsh learning workshops.

Here’s a quick video showing some of the hits from last year’s HWB, including Welsh comedian Tudur Owen:

Stephen Jones, Welsh Language Co-ordinator for Wrexham Council, said: “I’m very pleased to be able to announce that HWB Cymraeg will be coming back to Queens Square as part of FOCUS Wales 2019, and we’ll have an exciting range of events and live music performances on offer.

“The intent behind the HWB is that we have a varied programme of events which is appealing to both Welsh learners and seasoned speakers alike, and that we give learners somewhere to practise and use their Welsh in a lively and popular setting.

“I’d also like to thank FOCUS Wales for their support for HWB Cymraeg, and would encourage anyone who hasn’t visited the HWB in previous years to come and see what we’ve got on this year.”

Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Communities, Partnerships, Public Protection and Community Safety, said: “HWB Cymraeg proved to be a very popular element in FOCUS Wales in its first two years, and I’m pleased to see it returning for a third year.”
