Meet independent market trader Andrea Hughes who runs Making Memories in the Butcher’s Market.

“vintage shabby chic”“lovely and very loyal”

Andrea opened her stall last year having worked in education for more than 30 years and so far it’s been a good move as business has been very steady.

“vintage shabby chic”

Andrea offers a range of personalised gifts which she describes as “vintage shabby chic”.  Her stall is packed full of gifts for events such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and new borns.  All of which can have names, dates or verses put onto them to make them that extra bit special.

We found all Andrea’s prices were very reasonable and there’s certainly something for all budgets.

Andrea is also happy to let customers hire table decorations and accessories for special events, particularly weddings which is a big help in bringing down the overall cost of the big day.

Andrea said:

“lovely and very loyal”

“Wrexham people have been lovely and very loyal since I’ve been here.  It’s also great that so many people are willing to support local and independent traders.  We have a range of gifts that are suitable for all ages, from personalised wooden yoyos to that ideal photo frame which can have a personalised verse put in for somebody’s 50 Wedding Anniversary.”

We asked Andrea about advertising and, like the other independent traders we have spoken to she favours Facebook and her own “Making Memories” website

Both are available here:

Cllr Terry Evans, Lead Member for Economic Development and Regeneration, said:

“It’s great to hear of local independent traders who are making a success of their businesses in the town centre and who are obviously appreciated by their customers who are more than happy to make return visits.  Good luck Andrea, I hope the future remains positive for you.”

If you want to visit “Making Memories” it’s in the Butcher’s Market in Wrexham town centre and Andrea will be sure to give you a warm welcome and help you make that perfect choice for a gift for a special occasion.
