Skateboarders, scooter riders and inline skaters can now enjoy a brand-new skate park at Prices Lane in Rhosddu.
The £100,000 facility was officially opened at a launch event attended by Cllr I. David Bithell MBE, representatives of Rhosddu Community Council, local Wrexham Scouts and Guides, and officers from Wrexham County Borough Council.
The project has replaced the ageing steel skate park with a modern concrete facility designed to be more accessible, durable and suitable for users of different ages and abilities.
Local children and young people were consulted on the development of the project and invited to share their views on the features they wanted to see, their feedback helped shape the final design.
The redevelopment was funded by Rhosddu Community Council and championed by County Councillor I. David Bithell MBE, who worked closely with partners to bring the project forward. Specialist skate park contractor Wheelscape was appointed following a competitive procurement process.
Cllr I. David Bithell MBE, County Councillor for Stansty Ward, Rhosddu, said:
“I am delighted that the new Prices Lane Skate Park is now officially open and being enjoyed by local residents.
The old skate park had reached the end of its useful life and needed to be upgraded to better meet the needs of users. A survey was carried out with existing users to find out what features they wanted to see in a new skate park, and their suggestions have been incorporated into the final design.
I was pleased to secure funding from Rhosddu Community Council for this project, for which I am extremely grateful. I would also like to thank Wrexham County Borough Council Environment Officers for their support throughout the project.
It is fantastic to see young people now benefiting from a modern, high-quality facility that will serve the community for many years to come.”
The new facility is expected to become a popular destination for wheeled sports enthusiasts across the area, providing a safe, inclusive and attractive space for recreation, physical activity and community engagement.
