Visitors to Wrexham library will have noticed some changes to the foyer area recently as works to refurbish it and make it a part of the library itself have taken place. Users who are short of time can now quickly and easily return or renew a book, choose a new read, recharge their devices or pick up a book they have previously reserved.

Content
  • “All things Welsh”
  • “Quick access to all the latest reads”

New display cabinets have been installed that include separate sections for all the new biographies, hobbies, lifestyle, travel, children’s books and new fiction. There’s also a “Quick Choice” to help you if you haven’t got too much time to browse the huge selection on offer in the whole library.

“All things Welsh”

There’s also a great section dedicated to all things Welsh. Welsh biographies, tourism, history, fiction CD’s and DVD’s!

A great new coffee shop has opened – The Secret Garden – which we don’t think will be a secret for too long 🙂 as it offers a great range of refreshments including delicious home made cakes and. You can even take out a coffee to enjoy whilst taking advantage of the new look library.

“Owners Tom and Cath said: “The new look for the library is a welcome investment and we look forward to seeing how it’s put to good use for the Wrexham community. The Secret Garden cafe; located directly ahead of the foyer area is now up and running and we’ve been happy to welcome many customers already. We offer a range of menu items both to eat in or take away, including Welsh themed menus items which are proving to be very popular, jacket potatoes, paninis, sandwiches and homemade soups and cakes etc… we have a wide range of hot and cold drinks available. We also have a Facebook page for enquiries and we’re looking forward to what we hope will be a busy Spring/Summer as the cafe gains a strong customer base.”

“Quick access to all the latest reads”

Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Communities, Partnerships, Public Protection and Community Safety, said: “The library is very popular and making use of space is very important. It’s also made it very useful to be able to drop in and re-charge your devices whilst taking advantage of quick access to all the latest reads.

Shan Cooper, Libraries Lead, said: “The library is always looking at ways to improve the service it offers to visitors and extending into the Foyer area made perfect sense. Visitors are already commenting on how welcoming it is and are making good use of the recharging station.

Friendly staff are always on hand to help and advise so why not visit your new look library the next time you’re in town. It’s open 9am – 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am – 4pm on Saturdays.

You can keep up to date with everything that’s happening by following their Facebook page or twitter posts  or check out their website .

There was a short opening event recently and the Mayor of Wrexham, Cllr Andy Williams, officially cut the ribbon to the new look library.
