Wrecsam is getting ready to host Europe’s biggest cultural festivals when we play host to the National Eisteddfod between the 2-9 August, 2025.

With up to 175,000 visitors to the Maes expected throughout the week, this summer is set to be a special one, and right at the heart of it all will be Pentref Wrecsam, showcasing what we are all about.

Pentref Wrecsam will be a vibrant, welcoming hub and Wrecsam’s corner on the Maes, celebrating what makes Wrecsam special, from our culture and creativity to our community spirit.

Designed as a vibrant hub of activity, Pentref Wrecsam will offer a packed programme of live music and engaging discussions curated by FOCUS Wales in the main Cromen (Dome) area, alongside crafts, play and reading sessions in our Pabell Chwarae (Play Tent).

Over in the Ardal Chwaraeon (Sports Zone), run by Active Wrexham, exciting activities for all ages will be taking place throughout the week, including football fun with Wrexham AFC, tennis sessions with Tennis Wales, and a chance to see the FAW’s giant inflatable football shirt up close. There will also be plenty of space to sit, chill and recharge throughout the day.

Visitors will also find local produce, artisan goods, and arts and gifts from local makers and businesses, as well as plenty of useful information on Wrecsam, local services and organisations, and the work of the local authority in our Cytiau (Huts) throughout the week.

Alwyn Jones, Interim Chief Executive of Wrexham County Borough Council, said: “The National Eisteddfod is a momentous celebration of Cymru’s history, culture and language.

“Having visited and participated in the National Eisteddfod since being a young child, I’m thrilled and excited that we are hosting this year in Wrecsam, and I encourage everyone to visit the festival and Pentref Wrecsam, as well as get involved with Ffrinj Wrecsam happening throughout the county. Mwynhewch!”

As part of Wrexham’s broader presence at the Eisteddfod, Ty Pawb, Wrexham’s cultural arts centre, will curate ‘Y Lle Celf’, the Eisteddfod’s iconic national gallery on the Maes. Showcasing a curated selection of contemporary art, craft and architecture, Y Lle Celf is one of the largest temporary art exhibitions in Europe and a major highlight of the Eisteddfod’s programme.

Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Planning and Public Protection, Cymraeg Language Champion, with responsibility for Tŷ Pawb, said: “Tŷ Pawb continues to be at the heart of Wrexham’s growing cultural reputation, its role in curating this year’s Y Lle Celf being a perfect example of that, and a fantastic opportunity to share our vibrant culture and arts scene with a national audience.

This year’s exhibition brings together outstanding work by artists and makers from across Wales and beyond.

The Eisteddfod is a celebration not only of the Cymraeg, but of our creativity, diversity and cultural confidence – and I’m delighted that Wrecsam will play such a central role in delivering it.”

This year’s National Eisteddfod is a major moment for Wrecsam – a county and city region with a fast-growing reputation for culture, creativity and its communities. Pentref Wrecsam invites visitors from near and far to experience the best of it – all in one place. Wele chi yno!
