Tŷ Pawb, Wrexham’s exciting new arts and market facility has been receiving lots of visitors recently as its construction nears its end and the Leader of Wrexham Council has also visited the site to see the progress for himself. He was joined by the Lead Member for Economy Cllr Terry Evans and the Head of School of Creative Arts at Glyndwr, Professor Alec Shepley.
“Open on time and on budget”
Cllr Pritchard, said: “I was very impressed with how well the works have gone and how very different the former market hall works. I suspect many more will be surprised at the transformation when all will be revealed at the grand opening on 2 April. I would like to take this opportunity to thank staff and contractors for their hard work in ensuring this facility will open on time and on budget.”
“Really Great and Impressive Project”
Professor Shepley said: “This is a really great and impressive project and I am looking forward to developing the “creative conversation” in Wrexham with our friends at Tŷ Pawb.”
The £4.5 million development is supported by funding from the Arts Council for Wales, the Welsh Government’s Vibrant and Viable Places and Wrexham Council. Contractors Wynne Construction have undertaken the works.
“Great family day”
The opening will be marked by a very special celebration – Dydd Llun Pawb – which is being organised by FOCUS Wales and it promises to be a great family day with folks, floats and fireworks to entertain everyone.
It begins with a huge parade representing youth, community and charitable organisations in the region which will be led by North Wales brass band “Band Pres Llareggub”. The parade will meet up at Hope Street and High Street, go past the Monday market onto Queen’s square and into Tŷ Pawb where the celebrations will continue.
Chester Street will also be part of the celebrations for the day and there will be a fairground stall, lots of arts, craft and food and drinks stall. There’ll be a playground for the children and live music for everyone to enjoy.
