Local author Samantha Maxwell launched her third book ‘SILENCED’ on Saturday, 27th September at Tŷ Pawb.

SILENCED looks deeper into disability’s relationship with mental health, questioning whether this connection arises from environmental, social, or personal factors—or a combination of all three.

The book is a call for change, highlighting the often-overlooked reality that people with disabilities can also face mental health crises.

The book contains contributions from Lesley Griffiths MS and former Wrexham Mayor Cllr Beryl Blackmore alongside many other voices.

The launch was very well attended, with guests including current Wrexham Mayor Cllr Tina Mannering, Lesley Griffiths MS and Mark Isherwood MS.

Perfect Windows and Property Maintenance generously sponsored the event with the catering provided by D Evans Catering.

Samantha said “My heartfelt thanks also go to my publisher Allan and to my family, whose support and encouragement helped make the day such a success.”

This is Samantha’s third published book. Her first book, CP Isn’t Me, is part autobiographical, part factual, and speaks about her own personal experiences of living with mild Cerebral Palsy, as well as the discrimination faced from society because of her disability.

Her second book, Disabling Ableism, takes a more generalised look at disability through the eyes of society.

Both CP Isn’t Me and Disabling Ableism are available locally and nationally across the UK and America. In Wrexham, her books can be found at Waterstones and Bellis Brothers Farm Shop and Garden Centre, Holt, as well as being available on Amazon.
