March 11, 11am-2pm, will see sniffer dogs in action on Queen’s Square when ASH Wales and Smokefree Wrexham join forces to talk about quitting smoking and highlight the risks of illegal tobacco.
We all know that smoking is bad for our health and that it is an expensive habit. But are you also aware of the dangers caused by illegal tobacco?
Illegal tobacco sales make up 15% of all tobacco sales in Wales and 45% of that is sold in pubs and clubs. Worryingly, it is sold really cheaply making it easier for children to buy it with their pocket money.
Also, many of those who smuggle illegal cigarettes into the country have links to other forms of organised crime. So if you buy illegal cigarettes, you could be helping to fund those criminal activities.
The Illegal Tobacco Roadshow will be on Queen’s Square on March 11 11am-2pm.
