In 2019 we declared a climate and ecological emergency, and we’ve developed a plan to guide our actions in reducing our carbon.

As part of our journey towards net zero, we’re reintroducing our staff pool bikes scheme.

Using a bike offers numerous environmental benefits as well as other advantages, including improved fitness, reduced stress levels, and significant cost savings on fuel and parking while promoting good health and wellbeing.

Our bikes are available to council staff at the following locations:

  • Abbey Road
  • Ruthin Road
  • Crown buildings (where staff from Lambpit Street and Guildhall can also easily access them)

Cllr David A Bithell, Climate Champion, said: “By providing easily accessible bikes for our employees to use during work hours we strive to reduce carbon emissions, alleviate traffic congestion, and enhance the overall quality of life in Wrexham.

“The reintroduction of this exciting initiative encourages our staff to be more active, and it offers a convenient and immediately accessible travel option for work related trips.

Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Environment, said: “The staff pool bikes initiative shows our commitment to sustainability and embracing environmentally conscious practices within our community.

“Any member of our staff can borrow one of the bikes for their daily work related travel, helping them to take a quick trip to a nearby meeting and at the same time enjoying a rejuvenating ride.”
