Residents who put their green bin out for collection but haven’t paid for the garden waste collection service won’t get their bin emptied and will instead have a sticker placed on it to remind them how they can sign up for the collections.

Have you had one of these stickers appear on your green bin recently? ????

If you haven’t paid for the 2021/22 service, just head over to wrexham.gov.uk/gardenwaste and follow the simple instructions to pay.

The service charge has been frozen at £25 per bin and runs from the date you sign up until September 2, 2022, so it’s better to sign up sooner rather than later to get the best value. Simply put, the earlier you join, the more collections you’ll get.

“We don’t want these people to miss out on any collections”

Darren Williams, Chief Officer Environment and Technical, said: “We’ve introduced the stickers as a way to inform residents who haven’t paid, but are still putting their green bin out for collection, how to renew the service. Some probably haven’t realised that the new collection year started at the end of August and we don’t want these people to miss out on any collections. We want to try and give them the information how to pay and the stickers are a direct way for us to do this. Anyone yet to pay that wants the collections can visit wrexham.gov.uk/gardenwaste or call Streetscene to pay, and they will still get many months of collections for £25 if they sign up soon.”

Get over 9 months collections if you sign up soon

Autumn is always a popular time for gardening with leaves falling from trees and having dead plants from the summer to clear. If you didn’t get round to renewing in August, but now wish you had, please be aware it’s not too late to join!

If you sign up now, you can still get around 9 months of collections, whereas if you left it for a further month before signing up, you’d only get 8 months collections for the same price.

Please pay online if you can

Paying online is by far the easiest and most convenient way to sign up to the service, as you can do it any time you want and it only takes a couple of minutes.

If you’re unable to do this, you can call Streetscene to make a card payment, but please be aware that you’re likely to experience a wait if you do so.

Allow 10 days for your sticker

Residents who sign up for the service will be issued with a new sticker for 2021/22 collections, which will need to be displayed clearly on your bin lid. Please allow at least 10 working days to receive your new sticker pack from the date you sign up.

Monthly collections Dec 2021-Feb 2022

Garden waste collections will run once a month from December 2021 to February 2022 for those who have paid for the service, with normal fortnightly collections resuming in March.

Reminder – green bin collections switch to monthly for winter period

If you’re looking for a new career and want to help people in your community, a job in social care could be the right move.
