Anyone who remembers bopping away to the sound of 70’s glam rock band The Sweet are in for a treat as they are to make a special appearance here in Wrexham. The band

They’ll celebrate their 50th Anniversary here on the 16 March at the William Aston Hall and they’ll be donating all their profits from the gig to Wrexham Football club. It’s one of only 2 UK appearances they will be making as part of their European Tour.

Wrexham native Andy Scott, guitar/vocals and brother of Wrexham AFC commercial manager Geoff said: “I’m really looking forward to doing the show in Wrexham, we all are. It’s an added bonus being able to return to my hometown and help the football club at the same time.”

Tickets are available for just £30.00 at  www.glyndwr.ac.uk/en/events/allevents or http://www.thesweet.com/tour/

If you’re looking for an even more memorable evening you can meet the guys themselves at a pre-concert “meal and meet” event at the Bamford Suite in the Racecourse. You’ll be with the band from 5.30 until 7.30 and get a carvery and dessert. To book the special meal and meet event please telephone 01978 891864.

Sweet line up will be Andy Scott (vocals/guitar), Bruce Bislan (drums/vocals), Pete Lincoln (lead vocals/bass) and Tony O’Hara (guitar/keyboards/vocals)

Wrexham based Kidsmoke, will be supporting Sweet on the night. They’re a four piece band formed in 2013 who play indie-pop inspired by The Smiths, Joy Division and more contemporary bands like Wild Nothing, Real Estate and Deerhunter.
