We’ve had reports that residents are receiving emails saying their Direct Debit for their TV Licence has been declined and to get in touch.

There’s only a few errors in it such as missing spaces but overall it looks good and very official and could fool a lot of people so beware!

STAY SAFE – GET THE LATEST ALERTS ON SCAMS, PRODUCT RECALLS AND OTHER PUBLIC PROTECTION ISSUES

The one we have seen looks like this:

It gives you the option to “Update TV Licensing Now”

TV Licensing Scam Alert

Don’t click! It takes you to a very credible site but it’s a scam – it’s after your money or personal details or both!

It also offers you the opportunity to pay online now and/or to change your personal details:

Again don’t click either. It’s just another way to try and get your money and/or personal details.

If you do receive this or any similar email please take advice from the real TV Licensing people at https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/faqs/FAQ288 or simply delete it but don’t forget to tell family and friends about the scam.

Already entered your banking details on a fake site or in response to a phone call? Please talk to your bank immediately.

There’s also a new service that you may find useful that we publicised earlier this month:
