Public Protection Officer

The Trading Standards Service at Wrexham has seen a significant restructure in recent months with the appointment of a new Team Leader and two Trainees.

We are now looking for another qualified officer to complete the team and contribute at the sharp end on doorstep crime, scams, product safety, fair trading, illicit tobacco and underage-sales.

Are you the victim of a loan shark? Call 0300 123 311.

You may be recently qualified or you may have several years post-qualification experience but you will most definitely be a self-motivated, enthusiastic, “can-do” team player keen to support the development of your colleagues as well as yourself so that the service can deliver the best possible for the residents and businesses of the County Borough.

You will be qualified to DCATS/DTS level or equivalent and you may or may not be Weights and Measures qualified. We want you to take the lead on investigations, complaints and project work where you will be supported by your colleagues and, in turn, you will support your colleagues with their workloads.

We set our priorities and workloads according to IOM principles and over the years have been improving compliance with a steady stream of successful results using all the enforcement tools at our disposal including prosecution and injunctive action.

We have recently moved into newly refurbished offices and we operate a flexible working culture. The City of Wrexham is at the heart of the North East Wales economy, close to the border with England with excellent access to the stunning scenery of North Wales and the big cities of North West England.

A relocation package is on offer to the successful candidate if a move is required in order to take up the post.

We welcome applications from candidates who wish to work either full time or part time.

We welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates
regardless of race, gender, disability, sexuality, religious belief or age.

We are committed to developing our bilingual workforce and welcome
applications from candidates who demonstrate their capability to work in both English and Welsh. Applications submitted in Welsh will not be viewed less favourably than an application submitted in English.
