Wrexham County School’s football team recently reached the U15 Welsh Schools’ Football Association finals at The Venue, home of football team TNS.
In a nail biting final against Cardiff and Vale schools’ Wrexham won the match 4-1 on penalties, securing the trophy for only the second time in 20 years.
Oliver Haig (St Joseph’s School) was the hero of the day, saving three of the four penalties taken.
Wrexham National Champions captain Scott Butler was presented with the Glyncoed shield by Welsh Schools’ Chairman, John Mann.
On their return to Wrexham, the schoolboys were presented with their trophies by The Mayor of Wrexham, Cllr Andy Williams, in a special ceremony to mark their achievements.
