Wrexham Council is excited to announce a new weekly bulletin to help people save energy. This bulletin is all about making small changes that can make a big difference. We want to help everyone cut down on their energy use and save money on bills.

Every week, we’ll focus on one thing you can do at home to use less energy. We’ll explain why it’s important and how you can do it. It’s all about making things easier for you to help the environment.
Below is a list of the things we’ll be talking about each week. We hope you’ll join us in making Wrexham greener and saving energy together.

Below is a list of the things we’ll be talking about each week. We hope you’ll join us in making Wrexham greener and saving energy together.

  1. Only do full loads of washing.
  2. Air dry clothes instead of using the tumble dryer.
  3. Fill the kettle with only the water you need.
  4. Turn off the lights when you leave a room
  5. Replacing halogen spotlights with LEDs
  6. Draught-proof windows and doors.
  7. Only run the dishwasher when it’s full.
  8. Turning off the tap when brushing your teeth.
  9. Switching to a more water-efficient shower head.
  10. If you have a garden then a water butt is a great way to catch free rainwater which can then be used to water the garden with.
  11. Switching your appliances off at the wall and not leaving them on standby.
  12. Have shorter showers.
  13. Avoid leaving fridge/freezer doors open for long periods
  14. Use natural heat sources, like opening the curtains to let in sunlight, but also make sure to close them at night to keep the warmth in.
  15. Lowering your thermostatic radiator valves to the midway point.
  16. Top up the insulation.
  17. Installing reflective radiator panels and adding window film to your windows.
  18. When you’re buying a new appliance for your home, look for its energy label.
  19. Install a smart meter.
  20. Solar Panels

Keep an eye out for our weekly bulletins on Wrexham Council News where we will explain the benefits of the suggestions above!
