Great things happen when we all work together and that’s certainly the case with this fantastic project that’s seen 99 art packs delivered to children in Wrexham so far, with even more set to follow.

The ‘arts pack’ project is a joint effort between Tŷ Pawb and the ‘At The End Of The Rainbow’ food bags scheme, made up from a partnership of Wrexham Family Information Service, WCBC School Meals Catering Service and AVOW volunteers.

The partnership identified the families that would benefit most from receiving the art packs, Tŷ Pawb provided the art packs, designed and purchased specifically for this project, as part of their work funded by Arts Council of Wales. Then the 99 packs were delivered by brilliant AVOW volunteers to families in Wrexham, and will supply 168 children.

There are also a further 15 packs arranged to go out, which will benefit another 40 children…so the project means over 200 children will have access to the packs in total…amazing!

What’s in the art packs?

Each art pack comes in an A3 zipped plastic folder and contains:

• 2 x brushes (small and medium)
• 1 x eraser
• Graphite drawing pencils
• 1 x pack of 12 colouring pencils
• 1 x pack of 12 oil pastels
• 1 x pack of 12 felt tip pens
• 1 x glue stick
• A selection of card in primary colours
• 4 x print outs of art activity workshops from our Family Art Club (Welsh and English)

“A great additional resource for families at this time”

With many families in need of some extra resources to entertain their children due to the ongoing pandemic, the work that’s gone into making this possible has been greatly appreciated, particularly the effort of kind volunteers.

Tricia Bridgewater, At The End Of The Rainbow Project Lead, said: “The craft bags have been a great additional resource for families at this time. It just shows what can be achieved if we all pull together. AVOW volunteers have made it possible for these amazing resources to be delivered direct to families across Wrexham.”

“A fantastic example of how working together can really benefit the community”

Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for People – Communities, Partnerships, Public Protection and Community Safety said: “This is a fantastic example of how working together can really benefit the community. The arts pack project wouldn’t have been possible without these services coming together to make sure the materials reach families in Wrexham who can get real use from them. Well done to everyone involved.”

Cllr Andrew Atkinson, Lead Member for Children’s Services, said: “Thank you very much to Tŷ Pawb for their very kind donation, and great praise must go to everyone who has worked extremely hard to make this happen. The fact that over 200 children get to use the art packs shows what a tremendous success the partnership has been. We can’t wait to see the children’s artistic efforts now.”
