If you are looking for ways to encourage your child to read over the coming weeks, Booktrust Cymru has a great way to help you out.

This month, Booktrust launched ‘Hometime’ a place where you can find ways to entertain children at home, sharing books, stories and rhymes from favourite authors, illustrators and storytellers.

GET THE LATEST COVID-19 INFORMATION FROM PUBLIC HEALTH WALES

On BookTrust Cymru HomeTime there are filmed book readings, rhyme and song sessions, interactive picture books and much more. Authors, illustrators and storytellers from across Wales are contributing their work to help children and families while school are closed and everyday life is restricted.

The site launched with the Children’s Laureate for Wales, Eloise Williams, reading her book Elen’s Island chapter by chapter; traditional tales told by storyteller Michael Harvey; ‘how to draw’ sessions from illustrator Huw Aaron; and Elin Meek reading her Welsh adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Billy and the Minpins.

You can also find listings of regular activities online, including rhyme time and story time sessions run by local libraries, writing challenges from authors and information about where to find great ideas online to enjoy books, stories and rhymes.

Stay on top of everything that is going on on the site by following #BookTrustHomeTime and #AmserGartrefBookTrust on social media.
