This blog is one of a number of stories we will be posting about Youth Work Week 2019

Inspire is a youth work project based in Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The primary focus of the project is to support young people aged 11-18 years old (up to 19th birthday) who live in Wrexham and may be at risk of self-harm.

Inspire work alongside young people to help them achieve their goals. It aims to empower and promote the independence of young people, while increasing functional coping skills and resilience.

By fully involving the individual, and where possible/appropriate their families, positive attitudes, behaviour and aspirations are encouraged which assists in them developing resilience to overcome the challenges that they may face now and in the future.

Cllr Andrew Atkinson, Lead Member for Youth Services said, “I am delighted that Inspire continues to support young people within the Maelor Hospital.

“This project is a great example of public services thinking differently and working together to improve the lives of young people.”

Inspire also deliver informal education sessions in schools and youth clubs around emotional health, and visit young people admitted to hospital wards on a daily basis to support them during their stay.
