We're looking for an apprentice to work with us in our Press Office

Here at the Council’s press office we are looking for a very special apprentice to join our team. You will help us write media articles for this news blog and for the press, update our social media sites, write articles for magazines and newspapers, help to analyse and evaluate our media coverage and attend meetings and briefings. You will also help with organising events as and when required.

There are minimum qualifications  and you will need to be a Welsh speaker, have 5 GCSE at C or equivalent including English and Maths.

You should also be enthusiastic and energetic, enjoy working with people and learning new skills, be good at organising your own time, have good time keeping, have the ability to meet targets and deadlines, by able to work by yourself as well as being a team player, be trustworthy and have respect for others.

Training will be provided and you will study at ITEC for your NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration, Essential Skills Qualification Application of Number Level 1, Essential Skills Qualification Communication Level 1, Essential Skill Qualification Digital Literacy Level 1 and you will also receive Stewarding training.

“This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and energetic Welsh speaking person to get involved in the world of media and PR and become part of a dynamic team working at the heart of the Council.  Everything we do is bi-lingual and the ability to speak Welsh is essential for this apprenticeship.”

If you are shortlisted for interview you will be invited for an interview at the Guildhall.  At the interview you will be asked to give a short presentation on a topic that will be shared with you in advance of the interview.  A more formal face to face interview will follow.  Part of the interview will be undertaken through the medium of Welsh unless the candidate wishes for the whole interview to be conducted in Welsh.
