Wrexham Council will be holding its first Executive Board meeting since the Covid-19 pandemic started in March and interrupted all scheduled council committee meetings.

It will take place via Zoom on Tuesday, June 9 and the agenda and papers will be available as usual online on Wednesday, June 3.

The first meeting will not be webcast but we hope to record the proceedings with a view to publishing online later.

Council Leader, Cllr Mark Pritchard and Chief Executive, Ian Bancroft, both agreed that the move was a positive step forward: “Whilst behind the scenes officers and members have been extremely busy ensuring critical services continued to operate and responding to the needs of our most vulnerable residents we can begin to plan for the future.

“It is now time to start to re-convene our schedule of the various Council meetings we hold, albeit a little differently.

“By using Zoom all 52 members of the Council will have the opportunity to take part in the Executive Board meeting. As these types of meetings are likely to the normal for some time to come we are working towards live-streaming in the future.

“These have been difficult times for everyone but we still want to give people the opportunity to have a voice and to know that the democratic process is continuing.”

“We would like to thank everyone, members, staff and the public, whose continued support and resilience has helped us through these past few months.”

Members of the press have been invited to observe online and public and member questions can be submitted as per our constitution. You can find out more about this here:

Questions should be submitted by Monday, June 1.
