Reminder: Recycling centres will close as part of fire break lockdown

As part of the two-week fire break lockdown, we want to remind residents that our three recycling centres will be closing.

When are the sites closing?

Bryn Lane, Plas Madoc and Brymbo will all close at 4pm on Friday, October 23.

In a joint statement, Councillor David A Bithell, Deputy Leader of Wrexham Council and Lead Member for Environment and Transport, and Darren Williams, Chief Officer for Environment and Technical, said:

“Following the Welsh Government announcement, we will be closing our three recycling centres in Wrexham for the duration of the fire break lockdown in Wales. We ask for people to be responsible with their waste through this period, and hold on to any extra waste and large items until our facilities reopen on Monday, November 9.

“Please don’t be tempted to fly-tip…don’t leave waste at the gate or on the side of the road, or anywhere else where it shouldn’t be left. Let’s all work together and be responsible. Thanks.”

Protect the people you love. Download the Covid-19 NHS app.

When do they reopen?

All of the sites will reopen on Monday, November 9, with their usual opening hours:

  • Bryn Lane 8am – 8pm
  • Plas Madoc 9am – 4pm
  • Brymbo 9am – 4pm (appointments only)

As you need to make an appointment to visit the Brymbo facility, you will be able to call them from Monday, November 2 on 01978 801463. Please don’t try to call them between October 24 and November 1, as phone lines will be closed.

The re-use shop at Bryn Lane recycling centre will also be closed for the duration of the fire break lockdown, so please hold on to any donations until it reopens.

What you should do while the sites are closed

While the sites remain closed, we’re asking you to:

  • Try to minimise the waste you create – please don’t have any ‘clear outs’ at home, or do anything else that creates extra rubbish (e.g. certain DIY projects etc). We know it’s not easy, but please try to keep your waste to a minimum.
  • Put any gardening waste in your green bin as normal (if you’ve signed up to the garden waste collection service), and store any extra gardening waste in your garden for now. For example, if you’ve been pruning bushes, you might have to put the cuttings in a pile for now.
  • Keep any other items you would normally take to your local recycling centre (old furniture, timber, electrical goods etc) at home for now too.

Download the Covid-19 NHS app…and help keep Wrexham safe this autumn.
