Works have now been started by our contractors SWG at the decant location for Wrexham Markets based on Queens Square.

As soon as these works are completed, this will be the new temporary home for stallholders from Wrexham Butchers Market, and then Wrexham General Market, whilst upgrades and renovation works to these buildings take place.

It’s still business as usual at our markets with traders operating as normal at the Butchers and General Markets. Once work at the decant building have been completed, traders will move to the decant location- we will announce these dates in due course.

Lead Member for Economy & Regeneration, Cllr Nigel Williams said: “Works starting at the decant building is a key milestone in the regeneration of our historic markets. “We hope that the busy city centre location provides a good temporary home to our traders whilst the upgrades and renovation works take place at the Butchers and General Markets.”

*The Wrexham Townscape Heritage Scheme is funded through the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Welsh Government – Transforming Towns Fund, and Wrexham County Borough Council capital programme
