Wrexham Council remain committed to their 10 year windows and doors replacement programme which improves the thermal efficiency and security of its properties and supports the council’s ongoing commitment to provide homes that meet the new “Welsh Housing Quality Standard” and also contribute towards decarbonising our housing stock.

The 10 year windows and doors programme is subject to funding, which, all of the investment programmes in Housing are under the same budget pressures.

The programme is being delivered by concentrating on the age of the existing windows and doors from our asset management system.

During the first phase of the programme, we have completed over 400 properties across Wrexham and the surrounding villages of Holt, Penley, Overton, Bettisfield, Bangor on Dee, Gwersyllt, Cefn y Bedd, Cefn Mawr and Pentre Maelor.

Further areas are included during the second phase of the programme, which is due to commence and run during the 2024-25 financial year.

As part of our mission to lower our carbon footprint, the existing windows and doors that are removed are being recycled in a recycling plant and processed into resin so that they can be reused for other items.

Councillor David A Bithell Lead Member for Housing said, “We are committed to continuing to provide high quality windows and doors via our 10 year programme, this will be subject to available funding.

“Our second phase is due to commence in the next approaching financial year, and we look forward to updating you further on our progress”
