‘If you are going to get anywhere in life, you have to read a lot of books’ Roald Dahl

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves!

Research shows that children’s reading ages tend to dip over the summer holidays, here is a simple way to maintain or improve your child’s reading performance!

For the 18th year running, the Summer Reading Challenge will hit your local library and this year it brings with it the Animal Agents! Just call in at your local library to get started.

GET INSTANT NEWS AND INFO FROM WREXHAM COUNCIL WITH MYUPDATES.

This free event challenges your child to read six books during the summer holiday and visit the library at least three times. Each time they go they will receive rewards for the books they have read so far with a medal as the final prize!

Any primary school child can take part, they just need to join the library (they only need proof of address and they are done!) – and did you know if your child is in Year 4 and living in Wales they are automatically a members? Ask at your child’s school or at your local library for more information on Every Child a Library Member!

There are also loads of things online so your child can get even more from the challenge. At summerreadingchallenge.org.uk your child can play games, enter competitions, use the book sorter to find new reads and chat about the books you have read.

So, who has painted the graffiti on the library wall? Why are things suddenly going missing? What are we going on about? Join the Summer Reading Challenge to find out…!
