The free three-day event will engage young people across North Wales, helping them to explore careers in the RAF.
An RAF Chinook aircraft replica will touch down in Wrexham’s Queen’s Square on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th April as the Royal Air Force brings its flagship Town Show to North Wales.
The free three-day community event will take place at Llwyn Isaf, with visitors able to step inside and explore the military aircraft in Wrexham’s adjacent Queen’s Square during the opening two days.
RAF Regulars and Reservists will be on hand to showcase their roles and the career opportunities that exist within one of the UK’s most technologically advanced organisations.
Wrexham and the wider North Wales region have strong links to the RAF. Just a short distance away, RAF Valley on Anglesey plays a vital role in training the RAF’s next generation of fast jet pilots, including those who go on to fly Typhoon aircraft protecting UK airspace.
The region’s long-standing connection to military aviation and engineering makes it a natural home for future RAF talent. As the RAF arrives in Wrexham, young people from across North Wales are being invited to explore how they could become part of the RAF’s next generation of highly skilled engineers, intelligence analysts, cyber specialists, logistics experts and air operations personnel.
Councillor Beverley Parry-Jones, Armed Forces Champion said “We are delighted to welcome the RAF Town Show to Wrexham. This is an excellent opportunity for residents, particularly young people, to learn more about the wide range of careers and skills within the Royal Air Force.”
“Events like this help inspire future generations and celebrate the strong links between our communities and the Armed Forces.”
Sgt Andrew Collins, the event organiser, said: “Wrexham is a fantastic location for the RAF Town Show, with its strong links to RAF Valley and a proud tradition of engineering and technical expertise across North Wales.”
“We’re looking forward to meeting people from across the region and showing them what a career in the RAF is really like. Whether you’re interested in flying, engineering, cyber or logistics, there are opportunities for people from all backgrounds to be part of the RAF’s future.”
Part of a nationwide tour visiting 15 towns and cities across the UK, the RAF Town Show is expected to attract thousands of visitors of all ages.
The event will feature STEM challenges showcasing the innovation behind RAF operations, a mixed-reality experience, opportunities to discover the different sports available to RAF Regulars and Reservists, and live performances from an RAF band. Families are actively encouraged to attend, with activities designed for all ages.
No prior registration is required to attend, though those wishing to register their interest in advance can do so via the event’s Eventbrite page.
