Residents are reminded that there is no excuse for fly-tipping, following concerns about waste being dumped in public areas across the county borough.
From April 2025 to March 2026, Wrexham Council have received 1689 reports of fly tipping.
Fly-tipping is illegal, damages local communities, creates unnecessary clean-up costs, and can have a serious impact on the environment.
Residents are encouraged to dispose of waste responsibly by using official recycling centres, bulky waste collection services or licensed waste carriers. You can find a licensed waste carrier on the National Resources Wales website.
The reminder comes after concerns were raised about household items being dumped in public areas, including bulky waste items such as electrical items and garden equipment.
Anyone caught fly-tipping in Wrexham could be issued with a £400 fixed penalty notice, while householders who fail to meet duty of care when disposing of waste could receive a £300 fixed penalty notice, or an unlimited fine if they are prosecuted.
More serious cases can be taken to court, where offenders could face a fine of up to £50,000 or a 12-month prison sentence.
Councillor David A Bithell, Lead member for Environmental Services said, “There is absolutely no excuse for fly-tipping in Wrexham, especially when residents have access to recycling centres and proper ways to dispose of their waste.”
“Dumping rubbish in public places is selfish, irresponsible and completely unacceptable. It blights our communities, costs money to clear up, and is unfair on the residents who take pride in where they live.”
“We want to send a clear message that fly-tipping will not be tolerated. If you are caught, you could face a fixed penalty notice, prosecution, a significant fine or even imprisonment in the most serious cases.”
“If you have waste to get rid of, use the recycling centres, arrange a collection and make sure you use a licensed waste carrier, there is really no excuse for dumping it.”

Fly-tipping can also be reported to Wrexham Council via the online ‘Report Fly tipping’ form.
Tackling fly-tipping remains a priority, and those who dump waste illegally should be aware that enforcement action can and will be taken.
