North Wales is currently under an Amber weather warning, and temperatures are set to stay high all week.
Emergency services, local authorities, health and other partners are working together as part of the North Wales Local Resilience Forum (LRF) to monitor the situation across the region and to respond to any issues.
- North Wales residents and visitors are urged to take a few extra steps to stay safe in the heat.
- Check on others.
- Seek shade between 11am and 3pm.
- Wear SPF 30+ sunscreen.
- Cover up with a hat, sunglasses and loose clothing.
- Drink plenty of water.
Reduce fire risks
- Do not light fires.
- Pack a picnic, not a BBQ.
- Dispose of cigarettes safely.
- Take your litter home.
Stay safe around water
- Water can still be dangerously cold despite hot weather. Avoid jumping into open water to cool off – remember to enter the water slowly to reduce the risk of cold-water shock.
- If you get into trouble in the water, remember ‘Float to Live’.
- If you see someone in difficulty, never enter the water yourself. Call 999.
Travel
- Think. Is your journey necessary? Can you travel at a different time of day or defer it for another day?
- If travelling on the roads, take plenty of water with you, plan your rest stops, expect some disruption and look after each other.
- If travelling on public transport, please check before you travel, stay hydrated and allow extra time for your journey as services may be disrupted.
- Camp only where you have permission.
