Wrexham’s Artisan Market – From 10.00am

The celebrations will begin at 10.00am on Queen’s Square, where Wrexham’s Artisan Market will offer a wide range of stalls selling handmade gifts, artisan goods, hot food and drinks.

It’s a great opportunity to get started on some Christmas shopping, pick up something unique and support local traders.

Live entertainment and lantern workshops – From 11.00am

Live entertainment will begin on Queen’s Square from 11am, with performances throughout the afternoon helping to build the festive atmosphere ahead of the switch-on.

From 2pm, there will also be lantern decorating workshops on Queen’s Square for children and families to enjoy ahead of Nightingale House Hospice’s lantern procession.

Christmas Lights Switch-On – 4.30pm

The main event will take place at approximately 4.30pm, when the crowds gather on Queen’s Square for the official Christmas Lights Switch-On.

Once the lights are switched on, the Christmas Parade, featuring Nightingale House Hospice’s lantern procession, will make its way through the city centre to Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre.

Children who would like to take part in the lantern procession can register through the Nightingale House Hospice website. Registration costs £6 per child, with accompanying adults able to take part free of charge.

Live Switch-On Concert at Eagles Meadow – From 5.30pm

The celebrations will continue at Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre from 5.30pm, with a live concert bringing the day’s events to a close.

East 17 will headline the concert, alongside a line-up of performers including Lois Brooks, Owen Paul, Max Sarrre, Liam Halewood, Urban Fusion and more.

A great start to the festive season

Councillor Nigel Williams, Lead Member for Business, Economy and Tourism, said: “The Christmas Lights Switch-On is always a popular event in Wrexham, and it’s a great way to bring people together and get the festive season underway.

“It’s also an important time of year for our local businesses, and events like this help bring more people into the city centre, supporting our shops, traders and hospitality businesses in the run-up to Christmas.

“With activities taking place throughout the day, there’s something for people of all ages to enjoy, and it’s a fantastic opportunity to see the city centre busy and full of life.

The Wrexham Christmas Lights Switch-On is brought to you by Wrexham County Borough Council in collaboration with Fair Events Management, Nightingale House Hospice and Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre.
