Much has been seen in mainstream media of the research into intergenerational care – the practice of bringing the young and elderly together by introducing nurseries and care homes to one another.

The practice of intergenerational care has been promoted via television within a number of documentaries: perhaps most notably, Channel 4’s Older People’s Home for Four-Year-Olds and, in Wales, BBC One’s The Toddlers Who Took on Dementia and S4C’s Hen Blant Bach.

IF WE GET A BAD SETTLEMENT, WE’LL HAVE TO LOOK AT FURTHER CUTS. HAVE YOUR SAY…

The benefits of inter-generational work are far reaching and with the support of the Wrexham Council Community Inclusion grant lots more people are benefiting from great sessions like this one recently held in Hightown community centre to celebrate the annual International Older person’s day on the October 1.

A recent session also took place in Cylch Meithrin Bro Alun, Gwersyllt in the medium of Welsh and residents from Oak Alyn and Hillbury joined the children who sang a number of songs in welsh.

In addition, Ashgrove Care Home in Gresford invited Marford Little Explorers for a fun morning in the care home which was supported by the local PCSO Officers Lisa and Sue.

Tracey Nevitt, Manager of  Marford Little Explorers said, “Oh my life, I cannot thank you enough for your kindness this morning. Observing the interaction between young and old blew us all away!”
