Do you run a sports group? Are you involved in running one?

If you are, you shouldn’t miss out on this.

Another round of applications for Community Chest funding from Sports Wales is open, with applications closing on Wednesday, January 17.

There are loads of sporting groups in Wrexham, offering the chance to take part in sports such as football, rugby, boxing, athletics, tennis and many more.

Are you a member of one of these many community sporting groups?

If so, you shouldn’t miss the chance to get some extra funding, which could help you with everything from equipment to training.

The programme has already seen more than £50,000 given to groups since April last year.

And if your group specifically promotes sports for women or girls, disabled participants or social inclusion, you could be able to access even more money.

Sports can “bring people together”

Cllr Paul Rogers, Lead Member for Youth and Anti-Poverty, said: “There are a lot of good sports and athletics groups out there which do excellent work in their community.

“They’re not just helping people to get fit and stay fit – they’re also helping to bring people together, give them a chance to make new friends and socialise.

“I’d encourage any sports groups who think they could benefit from grant support to get in touch and take advantage of this opportunity.”
