Eloise Williams visited a number of Wrexham schools last month, as the children’s books author helped pupils to share ideas, create characters and develop stories.
One of the schools Eloise visited in Wrexham was Gwenfro Community Primary School on January 20, when she officially opened the school’s library.
At Gwenfro, Eloise spoke to the children about their own reading habits, presented an assembly to the whole school about her work, and talked about what life is like as an author.
Eloise later worked with Year 5 and Year 6 pupils on developing creative writing, where they created their own islands and characters. She happily answered questions from the children and later signed copies of her books.
Eloise was also presented with cakes creatively topped by mini replicas of her books whilst at Gwenfro and she was mightily impressed!

Kate Owen-Jones, Headteacher at Gwenfro CP, said: “It was great to have Eloise come to our school to officially open our library. The children really enjoying listening about her life as an author and have definitely been inspired by her visit.”
Eloise is the Children’s Laureate for Wales 2019-2021. This is an ambassador role, which looks to ‘engage and inspire the children of Wales through literature, and to promote a child’s right to have their stories and voices heard’.
