Have you explored the beautiful country park and lead mines of Minera?

Groundwork are running some free events for adults and children next week to help you get the most out this wonderful area of history and wildlife.

If you’ve never been there before the Minera lead mines offer a fascinating glimpse into local history. At the museum there you can explore the remains of the lead processing areas from the 18th and 19th centuries and the restored beam engine house, winding engine and boiler houses.

Covering 53 acres of grassland, wooded areas and archaeological sites Minera boasts a great variety of wildlife and endless opportunities to explore in peace and tranquility.

Guided tour and volunteer info day

Thursday February 28, 12pm-4pm
Free

Join Groundwork for a guided tour and walk around Minera Lead Mines and the Country Park, exploring the mine workings and industrial heritage.

The walk starts at 1.30pm and lasts approx. 1.5 hours.

For those who are interested in supporting this fascinating heritage site, a full range of great volunteering opportunities are available. Come along on the day to find out more about Minera and find out if you can be a part of its future!

Feathers, Feeders and Fun

Monday February 25, 1pm-3pm
Free

If your looking for something more family friendly then this will be right up your street!

Make a simple bird feeder and enjoy a fun trail around the country park spotting birds as we go.

Binoculars will be available or feel free to bring your own.

Nature Bingo

Friday 1st March
Session 1: 10.30am –11.15am
Session 2: 11.45am–12.30pm
Free

Another one for the kids, join Kate for a fun session of nature bingo exploring the country park and learn about the wildlife residents.

  • Choose which session you want to come to.
  • All activities are outside please wear suitable clothing and footwear.
  • Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
  • There are toilets at the site.
  • Events are subject to weather conditions please check Facebook on the day.
