The Guildhall will be lit up tomorrow evening in yellow and blue to commemorate the first anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces.

We’re also encouraging everyone to observe the national minute’s silence taking place at 11am.

Cllr Paul Roberts, Lead Member for Partnerships and Community Safety, said, “The past twelve months has seen many deaths caused by this war and many refugees have fled their country to seek sanctuary in Wales and across Europe.

“The devastation to the country is widescale and we can only imagine what those fighting the invading forces are seeing and dealing with on a daily basis.

“I’ll certainly be observing the minute’s silence at 11am and encourage everyone to take time to reflect on the courage of the Ukrainian people as they continue their fight to free their country.”

“Here in Wrexham we have welcomed Ukrainian refugees and as a city in a nation of sanctuary we will continue to welcome even more to our homes.”

The Guildhall will be lit up at 6pm.
