A Lifeline for Unpaid Carers
As one of the largest providers of carer services in Wales, NEWCIS delivers tailored information, practical support, training, counselling, respite opportunities and advocacy to help carers in Wrexham navigate the challenges of their caring role.
Many unpaid carers face isolation, financial pressures, emotional stress and difficulty accessing the right support. NEWCIS works alongside carers to ensure they have the information, confidence and practical assistance needed to maintain their own wellbeing while caring for others.
Making a Difference Through Personalised Support
The impact of NEWCIS is best demonstrated through the experiences of the carers it supports.
One carer praised the guidance they received throughout a complex support process:
“Thank you very much for the update, and for all the time, help, and support you have given me. I truly appreciate the way you have guided me through the process, and I am grateful for your caring and attentive approach.”
Another carer highlighted how one-to-one support helped them secure additional assistance for their family:
“Thank you for your support and advice. Talking to you before my meetings enabled me to plan my conversations and get the best outcome. I now have the extra support we need and talking to you before the meeting really helped!”
NEWCIS also provides opportunities for carers to take a break, connect with others and focus on their own wellbeing:
“Wonderful charity, one of the first to reach out to us when we were lost and needed support. There’s always something I can join to allow me to take some time for myself and recharge and knowing the support is at the end of the phone is so reassuring.”
Practical support can be equally transformative. One carer described the impact of receiving food support during a difficult period:
“Thank you so much for forwarding the info, it’s going to be invaluable to me and has given me hope when I was beginning to feel a little overwhelmed. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the food boxes and the produce has been excellent.”
Looking Forward
NEWCIS continues to raise awareness of unpaid carers and expand services that help carers remain resilient, connected and supported. By providing personalised advice, emotional support, practical assistance and opportunities for respite, NEWCIS ensures that carers are recognised, valued and empowered in their vital role within communities across Northeast Wales.
Councillor Beverley Parry-Jones, Lead Member for Adult Social Care said, “Unpaid carers play a vital role in our communities, often putting the needs of others before their own. It’s especially important that carers know they are not alone and that support is available when they need it.”
“NEWCIS provides valued advice, practical help, emotional support and opportunities for carers to take time for themselves. This work makes a real difference to people’s lives, helping carers feel recognised, listened to and supported.”
“We are committed to supporting unpaid carers across Wrexham and I would encourage anyone who is caring for a loved one, friend or family member to reach out and find out what help is available.”
