It was billed as a bumper weekend and it lived up to its name as thousands flocked to Wrexham to enjoy themselves last Saturday and Sunday.
Wales Comic Con saw record attendees at Glyndwr University of 15,000 for its tenth year anniversary. Visitors came from across Europe and the UK and many dressed for the occasion to meet their favourite actors and icons from the world of TV, big screen and comics.
Kids were in awe of their favourite stars from Harry Potter, Dr Who and Star Wars whilst the older ones queued very patiently to meet characters from Buffy, Sons of Amarchy, Once Upon a Time, Lord of the Rings, Supernaturl and The Vampire Diaries – to name but a small few! Both young young and old were taken with the gaming area, wrestling marquee, vehicle displays and of course we cannot ignore the cosplayers themselves. They looked magnificent and a big shoutout to them for all their efforts.

Then there was Small Business Saturday and the opening of Santa’s Grotto at Tŷ Pawb in the town centre. Traders are giving us good feedback on the day which saw large numbers of visitors give the town centre a thumbs up.
Finally, over 5,000 flocked to My Racecourse for the 2nd round FA cup draw against Newport Town – no celebrations on that front yet as it was a 0-0 draw with a replay taking place soon – we’re still keeping our fingers crossed for them.
The boost for the town centre was helped by free car parking on Saturday and you can find out what other events are being supported by free parking here.
