On October 22 and 23, the 4th EV Rally Cymru will be testing the limits of electric vehicles and the capacity of the electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure in beautiful parts of Wales.

And this year the big news is that Wrexham has been announced as the city to launch the whole event, meaning that you can come down to see this 50+ electric vehicle-event kick off.

Working in partnership with Wrexham CBC, Costelloes EV have played a big part in managing, maintaining and growing the borough’s public EV charging network. Last year they sponsored a checkpoint along the EV Rally Cymru route, but this year have gone one step further by sponsoring the official start point of the 2025 rally.

In this rally, electric vehicles will be put to the test in real-world conditions on Welsh roads, where teams will travel through scenic routes and vibrant towns, visiting beautiful locations such as Anglesey, Pembrokeshire, and Carmarthen

Sponsored by Transport for Wales, this high-impact, all-electric road event will highlight the remarkable progress Wales is making in clean transport and sustainable energy.

Focusing on North and South-West Wales, the event will showcase every aspect of the journey and how
EV’s can play their part in decarbonising the transport system.

The event will also demonstrate the ways in which the availability of EV charging points has been hugely improved. In Wrexham there are a number of charging points all over the county borough…why not take a look at this map to find out where you can charge your car?

Cllr David Bithell, lead member for housing and climate change, said: “Hosting the start of the EV Rally this year is brilliant news for Wrexham and a great way to showcase our growing infrastructure of EV charging points across the county borough. The availability of these charging points is increasing all the time. for use by visitors and residents. I hope that by using them to travel the length of the country the EV Rally will show everyone that owning an electric vehicle is a practical and sustainable way forward.”

David Costelloe, managing director of Costelloes EV, said: “We’re thrilled to be part of the EV Rally Cymru once again, and especially proud to host the official start point here in Wrexham. Our work with the council has been about creating a reliable, future-proof charging infrastructure that benefits both residents and visitors. The rally is a fantastic way to showcase the progress being made across Wales, and we’re excited to help shine a light on Wrexham as a leader in EV adoption and innovation.”

The 2025 EV Rally is being held by Greenfleet, is sponsored by Transport for Wales and is supported by the Welsh Government.
