Street Marshals on hand to ensure a Good Night Out

There’ll be some new faces in town on Fridays and Saturdays when Street Marshals take up post to make sure everyone has a good and safe night out.

The Marshals will support police officers and PCSOs to offer advice and support and also signpost to Safe Spaces such as Hafan y Dref.

Work in social care and be the lifeline your community needs.

There will be 3 Marshals, provided by Parallel Security, and they are all Security Industry Authority (SIA) trained. They are looking forward to ensuring that night time visitors to the town centre have a night to remember – not a night to forget.

You can recognise them by their blue tabards and they’ll be at various street locations when the town centre is at its busiest and will work into the early morning.

They’re in place until the end of March thanks to funding secured through the Home Office’s Safer Streets Fund

Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Communities, Partnerships, Public Protection and Community Safety, said, “The Street Marshals are a welcome addition to the ongoing work in the town centre to maintain everyone’s safety when enjoying the night time economy.

“It’s particularly important that women and girls are confident that they are safe and they know where they can go in order to get any assistance they may need.”

Superintendent Nick Evans, said, “North Wales Police are committed to working with our partners to ensure that Wrexham is a safe and enjoyable night out. I am delighted to see the Street Marshal initiative being piloted in our Town which will be a reassuring and valuable presence out on the streets.”
