A concessionary travel card – more commonly known as a bus pass – lets you travel for free on most bus services and some train services in Wales.

You can apply for one if you’re aged 60 or over, or if you’re an eligible disabled person, and you live in Wrexham County Borough.

How do you apply? You’ll be pleased to know it’s pretty straight forward – here’s everything you need to know…

Applying

Applications can be made online on the Transport for Wales (TfW) website.

To apply online customers will need to have one form of identification from the list on TFW’s website, two proofs of address, and they will need to know their National Insurance Number (proof of National Insurance is not required).

If you’re applying for a Disabled Person’s travelcard, you also need to provide evidence of your disability.

You can find full details of any supporting evidence you’ll need on the TfW site.

Once you’re application has started you can view your application details online and upload additional documents if you’ve been asked to.

If you need some support making your online application you can drop in to Contact Wrexham (based in Wrexham Library). Just let our advisors know and they will be able to help you. Staff can take your photograph so the requirement to provide a passport style photo isn’t necessary. Paper copies are available if needed, but your application will be quicker if we can help you to do it online.

Replace a lost card or renew a card

You can change your card details or report a card lost/stolen by clicking the ‘manage my card or application’ button on the TfW page.

If you’ve received a letter advising your card is due to expire or has expired, you can log into your account to request a renewal. Your card expiry date is printed on the front of your card. You can only apply for a renewal a maximum of six weeks before your card is due to expire.

“Take full advantage of the free travel”

Cllr David A Bithell, Deputy Leader and Climate Champion, said: “Buses have some great environmental benefits and travelling sustainably supports health and wellbeing too. Buses reduce congestion, they help to remove any stress from driving, and they are a big part of our local communities. I would encourage anyone who is eligible to apply for a pass to take full advantage of the free travel.”
