Wrexham is about to make sporting history as it hosts the inaugural Lexus Wrexham Open.

This major, landmark, international women’s tennis tournament is set to take place from October 19-26, 2025 at the Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre and is part of the ITF World Tennis Tour, bringing top 100-ranked players from around the globe to compete in North Wales.

Fans can expect to see athletes who regularly grace the courts of Wimbledon and other Grand Slam tournaments, alongside emerging British talent looking to make their mark.

More than just a tournament, the Lexus Wrexham Open is designed to be a celebration of tennis. A brand-new 600-seat indoor arena will surround the show court, creating an electric atmosphere for spectators. The week-long event will also feature community engagement activities, hospitality experiences and opportunities for local fans to get closer to the sport. Wrexham has been gaining recognition as a hub for sport and culture, and the arrival of a world-class tennis tournament only strengthens that reputation. From football to padel, and now elite tennis, the town is becoming a destination for fans and athletes alike.

Cllr Mark Pritchard, leader of Wrexham Council, said: “We are so proud to bring world-class tennis to North Wales. Outside of the grass-court season, this is the biggest women’s tennis event to be held in 2025 and is the biggest in Wrexham since 1996.

“The whole week will be an exciting celebration of the sport with matches held at the Wrexham Tennis and Padel Centre and events also being held at Wrexham University, Networld Sport, Ramada Plaza hotel and the player gym being at Total Fitness. We hope it inspires the next generation of players in Wrexham and beyond.”

Tickets are available now! This promises to be a must-see event for sports fans across the UK. Whether you’re a lifelong tennis enthusiast or simply curious to experience something new, this October is your chance to witness elite competition.

Tickets for the match days and other events are available from the Wrexham Open Tennis website, with match day passes starting at just £7.50.
