This week, the city of Wrexham welcomed this year’s Britain in Bloom judges were welcomed to Wrexham recently as part of their tour to find the winner of the 2026 competition.
The judges visited several venues and gardens in the county borough, including Ty Mawr Country Park, Penycae Orchard, Pentrebychan Nursery and Erlas Walled Garden before their tour of the city centre.
Wrexham County Borough did not disappoint, as excellent floral displays filled the route. Judges learned about the role of volunteers and traineeship opportunities, while also seeing the impressive new WRECSAM bug hotel and rain water harvesting systems, and finding more about recycling and composting.
Returning to the city centre, judges saw the fantastic floral displays as well as the complimentary butterfly trail that is running throughout the school summer holiday.
Cllr Nigel Williams, lead member for economy, business and tourism said, “It was a pleasure to welcome the judges to Wrexham and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have created displays and met the judges today for their fantastic effort on behalf of the county borough.
“Whatever the result of today’s judging, Wrexham is certainly providing a beautiful welcome to residents and visitors alike.”
Cllr David A Bithell, lead member for environment, said: “It’s clear that everyone has worked incredibly hard to make such wonderful displays along the route today, but we were very proud to show the judges the environmental projects that staff a volunteers have been working on throughout the year.
“Let’s all now cross our fingers while we wait for the final decision.”
