Executive Board today approved two consultations to reduce the published admission numbers at two Wrexham primary schools.
From November 3, 2026, residents will be able to have their say on reducing the number of children admitted into the reception years of St. Peter’s CIW Primary School, Rossett, and Rhosddu School.
St. Peter’s and Rhosddu schools have requested that these consultations were carried out for their schools and, should the decision be made to reduce the number, they will join several other primary schools in the county borough that have done the same.
Councillor Phil Wynn, lead member for education, said: “Demand for primary school places has reduced across Wrexham and is expected to continue falling in the years ahead. Reviewing pupil admission numbers is a sensible response to these changing demographics. If approved, the proposed changes would help both Rhosddu and St. Peter’s Primary Schools to manage their budgets more effectively by bringing admission numbers more closely into line with projected demand, helping to maintain the efficient use of resources and support the schools’ long-term sustainability.”
These consultations will be launched on November 3 and will be open until December 17, 2026.
