Act with caution if you receive a suspicious telephone call

Wrexham Council’s Trading Standards team has been made aware of a number of suspicious unsolicited telephone calls either raising concerns over the safety of, or offering to improve the performance of, a resident’s loft insulation.

Missed bin collection? Let us know.

The callers have been reported as claiming that there may be a safety issue with loft insulation recently fitted.

The callers try to obtain personal details from residents by asking a series of questions and then attempt to arrange for a representative to visit the resident’s home to discuss further options.

We would urge anyone who receives any type of unsolicited telephone call to act with caution.

Never be intimidated into making a quick decision and always take a moment to ask yourself if the caller is genuine.

Do not provide any personal details to a caller who has contacted you out of the blue.
Trading Standards would advise you not to engage with any cold callers either over the phone or on the doorstep regardless of what they have to tell you. Simply put the phone down or close the door.

If you receive a telephone call that you suspect maybe a scam, please report it to Citizens Advice Consumer Service by calling 0808 223 1133 (English Speaking) or 0808 223 1144 (Welsh Speaking).

Please help protect others from falling victim to this type of scam, by letting your family, friends and neighbours know about this alert.

Missed bin collection? Let us know quickly and easily online.
