Get Ready for Play Day 2019

Play Day returns on Wednesday August 7 and we’ll once again be handing over the town centre to our younger residents as we celebrate their right to play.

Regulars to Play Day will know that it’s the day when the town centre is transformed into a giant play area and parents and carers watch on while everyone gets very wet, very messy and has a great time. 🙂

There’s all the usual activities including den building, a big maze, the popular water slide, the giant sand pit and plenty for even the very youngest of children.

  • “Bin it don’t chuck it!”

    “Bin it don’t chuck it!”

It’s unsightly and we complain about it a lot – it is of course the litter on the A483.

Travelling in the area should be a pleasure – we do have some of the most outstanding countryside in the UK yet all too often visitors coming into Wrexham are greeted by other people’s waste.

Our Environment department try to keep it as clear as they can but just looking at the picture above it’s a difficult job. A bit like painting the Forth Bridge – as soon as you’ve finished you have to start again.

TAKE PART IN THE COUNCIL PLAN CONSULTATION 20-22

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead member for the Enviornment and Transport, said: “It’s very time consuming and costly to keep the A483 clear of rubbish. It shouldn’t be there in such quantities. We’re asking everyone to please take it home and bin it don’t chuck it. Throwing litter from a moving vehicle can also be extremely dangerous to other road users and pedestrians. I am also writing to Cheshire council as the A483 North of Rossett is unsightly and clearly no pride is being taken along this part of the A483.”

If you are caught throwing litter from your vehicle you could also get a fine but we’d rather you took it home and put it in a bin or recycled. We want you to be proud of our countryside and want everyone visiting Wrexham to see it at its finest.”
