Children over 5 are able to attend independently, but we require a registration form to be completed by an adult at the 1st session they attend.

Sessions vary depending on the site, the weather and what the children want to do that day. Sessions usually get messy so we recommend old clothing and dressing suitably for the weather. All our sessions are outdoors and most do not have access to toilet facilities.

Play sessions are not a substitute for childcare and it’s the parent’s responsibility to make arrangements with their child regarding pick up/permissions to leave site etc.

If children require additional support to access the sessions, we offer the inclusion project. Forms can be completed online for this service & a member of the team will be in touch with the family to arrange support. https://www.wrexham.gov.uk/service/childrens-social-care/play-and-youth-support-team

  • Anti Social Behaviour Awareness Week – Find out how it’s tackled

Anti Social Behaviour Awareness Week – Find out how it’s tackled

As part of Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week we’re inviting you to an event at Tŷ Pawb on Thursday 21st July between 12pm and 2pm when members of the Community Safety Partnership will be present to show you what we do here in Wrexham to reduce incidences of ASB.

The Community Safety Partnership is made up of representatives from ourselves, North Wales Police, Betsi Cadwaladr University health Board, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Wales Probation. The partnership also includes representatives from third sector voluntary organisations.

Get news and info from your local council – sign-up for email bulletins.

As a general rule when ASB is reported as being a problem interventions will always be offered to try to remedy problem behaviour. But if this isn’t taken up then there’s lots of legislation that the partnership can, and has used.

These interventions have included Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBO’s), Community Protection Warnings and Notices (CPN’s) against offenders, Closure Orders on properties and Public Space Protection Orders (PSPO’s) in hotspot locations.

Victims of persistent anti-social behaviour (ASB) have the right to request a case review in certain circumstances. The Community Trigger is a tool used to review specific cases. Its aim is to make sure that appropriate levels of enforcement and support are either in place, or have been considered.

Any person who has reported three incidents of anti-social behaviour within a six month period can raise a Community Trigger and request a case review for consideration. You can read more about this here.

Cllr Paul Roberts, Lead member for Partnerships and Community Safety, said, “Anti Social Behaviour can cause residents and visitors to feel uncomfortable or sometimes even intimidated when it takes place.

“I encourage everyone who is able to go along to this event to see what goes on in the background when it’s reported, how it’s being tackled and how to report it so appropriate action can be taken.”

  • Fire and Rescue Service issue warning of a heightened risk of grass fires during hot and dry weather

Fire and Rescue Service issue warning of a heightened risk of grass fires during hot and dry weather

    Guest Article

Due to the Met Office having issued an Amber Extreme Heat Warning for parts of Wales and the lack of recent rainfall, the Fire and Rescue Services and partner agencies across Wales are asking people to be aware of the heightened risk of grass fires and other fires during this period of dry and hot weather.

    Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service’s Peter Greenslade, Chair of Operation Dawns Glaw, said;

“We are currently experiencing hot and dry weather conditions, and the forecast for the coming weekend and next week predicts that it will get even hotter.  I, therefore, urge people to be extra careful and be aware of the heightened risk of grass fires.

If you are planning a barbeque, you must ensure that the barbecue is placed on a flat, non-combustible service, and well away from a shed, trees or shrubs.

If you are planning to burn rubbish, please reconsider this. Think, can you take it to a local authority waste disposal site instead?

It is illegal to burn grass at this time of year and if you come across somebody burning grassland you can report them, anonymously, to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555111, or visiting crimestoppers-uk.org.

If it is an emergency, you must always call 999.

Let’s all enjoy this glorious weather responsibly and safely. By following the above advice, you will reduce the risk of fire and reduce the impact on our fire crews, our communities and the environment.”

Deputy Minister for Social Partnership, Hannah Blythyn MS, added:
“Many of us will be thinking about visiting the countryside during this weekend’s hot weather.  It’s really important to remember, though, that in dry and hot conditions like this even a discarded cigarette or glass bottle can start a major and devastating fire. I would urge people to heed the advice of our emergency services, to do what they can to keep themselves and others safe, and to keep our Welsh countryside beautiful.”

Be aware – An Extreme Heat Warning Has Been Issued for the Wrexham area

An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued which can mean serious health risks to some residents. Those most at risk are older people, very young children and people with medical conditions.

Please take extra care if you are likely to be affected by the heat and keep a look out for those around you.

There are also other ways to stay safe in the heat to make sure you stay safe and comfortable.

    • look out for others, especially older people, young children and babies and those with underlying health conditions
    • close curtains on rooms that face the sun to keep indoor spaces cooler and remember it may be cooler outdoors than indoors
    • drink plenty of water. Sugary, alcoholic and caffeinated drinks can make you more dehydrated
    • open windows when it feels cooler outside and it’s safe to do so
    • never leave anyone in a closed, parked vehicle, especially infants, young children or animals
    • try to keep out of the sun between 11am to 3pm
    • if you are going into the water to cool down, take care and follow local safety advice
    • if you have to go out in the heat, walk in the shade, apply sunscreen and wear a hat
    • think about when you exercise. Consider exercise during the cooler times of the day.
    • wear light, loose fitting cotton clothes
    • check out Met Office warnings and weather

The “Safe Place” scheme makes sure that everyone visiting Wrexham can have a safe place where they can go to when if they’re feeling anxious, panicked, stressed or particularly vulnerable. Local businesses sign up to take part in the scheme and then display a sign that registered users can recognise and know they will be able to get help from those inside.

It gives people the security of knowing they, or people they care about, have a safe place to go in times of need. The safe place can be a shop, pub, library, council building or any place that is publicly available. A sticker will identify the place as a “Safe Place” and it will also appear in the national database.

It is run by SWS (Standards of Wrexham services) and is part of a national scheme.
