Council staff from the Business and Investment Team raised more than £325 for Macmillan Cancer Support after hosting a successful coffee morning at Redwither Tower.

The event, held on Wednesday 12 August, welcomed tenants, visitors and colleagues from across the building, bringing the local business community together in support of a worthy cause.

Staff members baked and donated a wide range of homemade cakes and treats, which proved popular with attendees throughout the morning. Tea and coffee for the event were generously donated by Andrew Steele of Atrium Training, helping to maximise the funds raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The coffee morning created a warm and friendly atmosphere, with people taking the opportunity to catch up with colleagues, meet fellow tenants and support a charity that provides vital services to people living with cancer and their families.

By the end of the event, more than £325 had been raised, with all proceeds going towards Macmillan’s work supporting those affected by cancer.

Andrew Coxill, Business & Investment Team Manager, said:

“We are delighted with the support shown by tenants, visitors and colleagues who attended our Macmillan Coffee Morning. The event was a fantastic example of our community coming together for a great cause, and we would like to thank everyone who donated, baked cakes, volunteered their time and supported the event. Special thanks go to Andrew Steele from Atrium Training for kindly donating the tea and coffee. Raising over £325 is a wonderful achievement and will help Macmillan continue its vital work supporting people affected by cancer.”

Nigel William, Lead Member for Economy, Business and Tourism said:

“Events such as this demonstrate the power of networking and collaboration within our business community. Bringing together tenants, partners, visitors and council staff for a shared purpose not only helps raise valuable funds for charity but also creates important social value. While our day-to-day work focuses on supporting businesses and economic growth, it is equally important that we take opportunities to give back, strengthen relationships and support causes that make a real difference to people’s lives.”

The Business and Investment Team would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the event and helped make a positive difference through their generosity.
