It’s not too late to sign up for garden waste collections

The 2025/26 garden waste collection service began on April 1, but if you didn’t get around to signing up and now regret it, please be aware it’s not too late to join.

  • Do you get our bin reminder emails?

The service charge has been frozen at £35 per bin and runs from the date you sign up until March 31, 2026, so it’s better to sign up sooner rather than later to get the best value. Simply put, the earlier you join, the more collections you’ll get.

Please pay online where possible

The easiest way to pay for the service is online at wrexham.gov.uk/gardenwaste.

Any residents who would like a bit of support to make an online payment can visit Contact Wrexham based in Wrexham Library, or you can drop into your local housing estate office. Just let our staff know you want to pay for your garden waste collections and they will be able to help you through the process, they can even help to set you up with an email address if you don’t have one.

A friend or relative can subscribe online on your behalf.

You must have an email address to subscribe online. If you don’t have one you can call Streetscene on 01978 298989 to make a card payment.

Cllr Terry Evans, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “As we’re now into spring time where it’s starting to get a bit warmer and people are using their gardens more often we want to remind residents that they can still join the garden waste collection scheme. If you now want to join, please head over to wrexham.gov.uk/gardenwaste and follow the instructions to pay for the service.

“If you need any support making your payment, you can get this at Contact Wrexham in Wrexham Library, or at one of the housing estate offices. Alternatively you can call Streetscene on 01978 298989 to make your payment.”

No bin stickers

This year we won’t be sending out bin stickers as part of the garden waste collection service. Instead we will be using our logistical system to identify properties that have paid for the latest service. We recommend for you to display your house name or number on your green bin to make it easier for us to match your bin against the details on our system.

Terms and conditions

In previous years we’ve sent out the terms and conditions of the garden waste service as part of your bin sticker pack. As we no longer send out bin stickers, we won’t be sending out physical copies of the terms and conditions.

Instead you will be able to view these online, or if you prefer you can pick up a physical copy in person from Contact Wrexham.

What can I do with my garden waste if I do not want to pay for the collection service?

You can take your garden waste to one of the household waste recycling centres (free of charge). Alternatively, you could compost garden waste at home. Take a look at Wales Recycles’ ‘how to set up home composting’ guide which has some useful information.
