With the recent success of Wrexham AFC the city has seen an influx of visitors from away fans, and fans from around the Borough who attend matches at STōK Cae Ras, with future plans in mind of increasing the stadium size.

With this creates busier traffic and some car parks around the city reaching capacity during match times, therefore, the Housing Offices situated on Ruthin Road are piloting free match day parking (weekends matches only) in order to relieve some capacity at other carparks within the city centre, especially during the busy festive season.

As this is a pilot, it will be free to park at the site. Parking will be available for weekend matches only from Saturday, 9th November 2024 (Mansfield Town home 12.30 kick off).

The plan to carry out a pilot of match day car parking follows a decision at the Executive Board on 9th July 2024 to explore the feasibility of the site. The pilot will finish at the end of the season.

The aim is to understand if there is demand for parking at the Ruthin Road site going forward.  If demand for this site in particular is high, there is a possibility of pay and display options in the future.

The housing office site provides parking for up to 143 spaces within approximately 15 – 20 minute walk from the STōK Cae Ras.

The parking will be available for weekend home matches only from 3 hours before kick-off and will close promptly 2 hours after the game has concluded.

Address for site:

Ruthin Road

Wrexham

LL13 7TU

You can view all planned home fixtures via Wrexham AFC’s website.

Councillor David A Bithell, Lead Member for Housing and Climate Change said, “We are piloting the car park at our Ruthin Road site for match day parking (weekend matches only).

“I believe this initial pilot will enhance the experience for fans attending the games and possibly provide a parking solution for the busy periods of match days in the city centre. With Wrexham FC home games up to current capacity and concerns raised on parking near the stadium, this will allow us to see if the site could be used as longer term”.
